Where did the inspiration for your business stem from?
The art of simple and high-quality products has been so deeply embedded not just in my experiences, but my values, ever since I could remember. I have always been exposed to makers and artisans from a very young age. My grandfather in Italy cultivated the vegetables we ate from his farm, and I come from a family of talented pattern makers and seamstresses. I started my career in luxury Italian fashion houses, which enhanced my appreciation for quality. This is where my inspiration comes from; craftsmanship meets modern living.
There is no richer way to live than to create long-lasting, trustworthy relationships with those around us; our friends, families, suppliers, makers. We are all living here together, might as well grow together and help each other prosper.
Wearshop, Designer + Founder,
What is the best part of what you do and why?
We are living a moment in fashion right now that is a complete revolution. This appreciation for well-made, sustainable goods is a natural pendulum effect due to the damages unsustainable fast production practices have caused us. It’s been over 12 years I’ve entered the fashion industry and it’s the first time I am surrounded by so many people in the industry who want to use fashion to move society and the environment forward through positive initiatives. It’s such a wonderfully vibrant thing to experience.
Why is community important to you?
There is no richer way to live than to create long-lasting, trustworthy relationships with those around us; our friends, families, suppliers, makers. We are all living here together, might as well grow together and help each other prosper. Innovation and thoughtful design can set new opportunities for our communities, and that is exactly what Wearshop is about.
