Pascale F., Rouge Cerise, Owner + Designer
Since a child Pascale F., Rouge Cerise, Owner + Designer, always knew she wanted to create and work with her hands. This led to her studies in fashion design and leather goods. In 2009, Pascale started her own business initially with a collection entirely of leather. However, she wanted to include and work with different textures. This desire led to Rouge Cerise in 2014, a line of accessories where different materials and techniques meet. Each material is carefully chosen, and all designs are made in Pascale’s Montreal workshop.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced as an entrepreneur?
Becoming a mom! Having to reorganize my schedule and put aside some projects was really challenging and sometimes frustrating to me, but I have no regrets. One of the reasons I became an entrepreneur was to be allowed to take time for my family when they needed me without pressure from a boss. And since I’m the boss, my days off are always approved!

Pascale F., Rouge Cerise, Owner + Designer,
What is your favourite component to your workspace and why?
I don’t know if they are my favorite components, but I’m definitely attached to them. My hand tools, basically the utility knife and awl I use every day since leather school. It feels awkward using others’ tools and I still bring them back home in my old pencil case after each day of work.
What was the most memorable gift you ever received?
The support of my family, especially my parents, when I started my company and became self-employed. They always gave me the encouragement to continue even during the toughest times and I wouldn’t be a business owner today without them.
