Where did the inspiration for your business stem from?

I grew up collecting rocks and crystals. I would beg my mom to take me to the mall to go to The General Store and Green Earth so she could buy me a crystal or two. She always caved and I’m grateful for that. She just recently found my old box of crystals in the basement and it was so nostalgic for me to go through it. I remember smiling to myself. There’s just something about the natural beauty of crystals and the amazement of how each of them comes from the earth. Not only do we get to wear these beautiful crystals as an everyday accessory, but we also get the beneficial healing properties from them as well. The beauty of crystals and learning about new crystals continues to inspire me.

What is the best part of what you do and why?

The best part of what I do is receiving and hearing the positive feedback from everyone who has purchased an Equilibrio Gems item. It truly warms my heart to read and hear comments about how they can’t take their bracelet off, or how the crystals they purchased are helping them either spiritually or physically in some way, or receiving messages asking me what crystal is great for alleviating stress, for example. We now live in a time where over-the-counter-medications are not used as frequently, and a lot of people are moving towards holistic, spiritual and natural ways to combat certain issues. I think this is amazing!

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs?

The best advice I could give aspiring entrepreneurs is to write down all your thoughts and ideas in a notebook. Keeping all your thoughts and ideas in your head can be extremely overwhelming and stressful, which is why writing them down allows you to be more organized. You can also jot down other things that may umbrella off those ideas. Another piece of advice is asking yourself if you’re passionate about the business you want to start. I believe passion fuels motivation and success. If you aren’t passionate about your cause, service or product, and only concentrate on the financial gains, the likelihood of your business succeeding is a lot lower than a business that is driven by passion.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced as an entrepreneur?

The biggest challenge I faced as an entrepreneur is surrounding myself with the right people. When I started Equilibrio Gems I met a lot of people. Some of those people had SUCH negative attitudes and negative energy – you could have felt it from across a room. Negativity doesn’t offer any inspiration or success; it just dulls your creativity and drags you down. You unfortunately get burned by people on your journey, and that’s okay, however it’s your ability to quickly bounce back from that and be stronger and more resilient than ever that counts. I’m grateful for being selective and surrounding myself with a good group of entrepreneurs that have a similar mindset as myself – with great work ethic and a positive attitude about their business and about life.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Don’t sweat the small stuff, things always have a way of working out. Take small risks and take big risks. Be aggressive for things that make your heartbeat just a little faster. Be loyal to those who have your back, and don’t take it personal when someone unfriends you. Be humble and grateful for everything that life has to give.
